Dreaming for the Impossible

A couple of months ago as a team we were having coffee and spending some time dreaming together. The question on the table was, “if nothing is impossible what would you want to see happen this week?”

One of our team members said he would want to set up as if we were doing our Mobile Medical Unit, but instead of bringing a doctor, we would pray for all the sick to be healed. So in two very busy weeks in July that’s exactly what we did. In all four of our precious communities, we set up a tent, gathered everyone who wanted to come, and prayed for every sick person. In each place it looked different. It was often messy and disorganised, but it felt so perfect. Like Jesus. Like ‘church’.

And the healings were amazing!! We saw a man whose leg appeared to be broken practically leap out of his chair and begin to walk; almost all the pain and swelling gone. A baby who was tongue tied no longer is. A woman with ulcers completely healed. Many with various pains in their bodies are no longer in pain. A demonized boy received freedom. A man with terrifying dreams is now able to sleep in peace. And after they felt a touch from God in their bodies, many of them decided to give their whole lives to follow the one who had healed them.

It was AMAZING, surprising, overwhelming.

The thing that struck me the most was how simple it was. Mamas who have been saved just months ago prayed for their friends who were completely healed. The looks on their faces were priceless as they realized God was using them! That they too could make an impact on the communities they live in.

When I look at my small, unqualified self in the midst of a continent of pain, war, poverty, disease, I often feel like I have nothing to give. The changes I long to see seem so huge. But really it’s so simple. As we yield ourselves to Jesus and say yes to His whispers, He pours Himself out through us and the impossible becomes easy!

This week signals the end of our Reckless Love Mission School where 30+ young people have come to love the poor and have had their lives completely transformed. Please pray for them as they go back to their day to day lives, that their hearts would continue to be broken for the things of God and that they would be filled more and more with His amazing love and then feel able to give it all away!!!  Thanks for your continual prayers, support, and encouragement!!
