Through our Sponsorship Program, our aim is to help meet the immediate needs of children in the slums while building a bridge for families to work their way out of poverty. We hope to give children back the childhood they deserve and give them hope for a future with endless possibilities! Changing the life of a child impacts a generation and eventually a nation. Our sponsored kids will receive one or more of the following kinds of aid:
Immediate Aid
The average family in the slums lives on about £1.50 a week. This is not nearly enough to meet a child’s most basic needs. Immediate aid and relief provides children with things such as shoes, clothing, food packages, bedding, etc that their parents are unable to provide.
Schooling
Slum children are often too poor to be able to attend even the ‘free’ schools because of all the added costs such as books and uniforms. Sponsorship allows us to send children to quality schools that give them the education they deserve. Children living in harsh or abusive situations are given a place where they are free to be children who can laugh, learn, and play. Sending kids to school not only impacts who they are today but who they can become!
Medical Care
Disease and death fill the slums, but medical care is an unaffordable luxury. Typhoid and malaria can be treated for £5, but that’s over a week’s wages. The World Health Organization says that 80% of the deaths in Africa every year are a result of PREVENTABLE diseases!! Through sponsorship we hope to change this for our children. It doesn’t cost much to save a life in Africa and through our Sponsorship Program we are able to do that often!

How do you select the children who will be sponsored?
Our Sponsorship Program is based on relationship. Because of the huge need that surrounds us and the constant requests from children and their parents for different forms of assistance, we are unable to help everyone. Our aim is to first assist the children we know, love, and have built a relationship with. We then carry out a needs assessment which helps us evaluate how desperate their need is. We evaluate their living condition, health needs, family history, family size, etc. and decide if they would be a good candidate for our Sponsorship Program.
How much does sponsorship cost and where does the money go?
There are two options for sponsorship:
£18 a month will provide schooling, basic medical care, and immediate aid and relief for one child.
£60 a month will provide schooling, basic medical care, and immediate aid and relief for the average family in the slums. It will also enable the parents to start a business and begin working their way out of poverty.
Why don’t you run a one-to-one sponsorship scheme?
Because of the nature of the slums, each child we work with has a different level of need. Some children desperately need every form of care we can give as their parents are uninterested or unable to meet their needs. Others are too young for school, but in dire need of ongoing medical care. As a result, each child requires a different amount of funding. To enable us to meet the specific needs of each child and have the greatest impact, we allocate the funds according to each individual level of need. However, as a sponsor, you will be linked with a specific child who you can pray for. We will share their story with you and send you yearly updates so you can have an understanding of where your money is going and the impact you are having. You will also receive a newsletter every 6 months which will give you a broader idea about what is happening in our sponsorship program as a whole.
Can I contact the child I am linked to?
Because of the way life works in the slums, it is unhelpful for children to receive letters or gifts from their sponsors. However, there may be occasions throughout the year where you are able to contribute towards a specific activity or celebration such as Christmas that all our sponsored children will benefit from. The biggest impact you can have on the child you are linked to is to pray for them!
