Street Clubs

Once a week in each community we work in, we bring Street Club for the children who live there. For possibly one of the only times in their week, they are free to play in a safe and happy environment and be the children they are. We play games with balls, bubbles and parachutes, sing songs, and tell the children about the love of Jesus. The kids are always so happy to see us pulling up for Street Club and come running to greet us!

As we have fun with the children, it’s so easy to forget what it is like for these children when we are not around. Sewerage runs through the streets and broken bottles and nails litter the floor. They don’t have video games or televisions to keep them entertained; instead they make cars out of sticks and water bottle caps and rummage through garbage to find ‘treasures’. So Street Club is a huge treat for these children! They come alive as they dance, sing, and play. And they receive affection as we hold them in our arms.

When we arrived in Kasubi, Joshua was a shy and grumpy 3 year old boy. He never smiled, he never laughed, he simply watched. As we began to give him attention, his gorgeous personality began to shine. He now dances to the music, smiles the whole time we are there, and has the cutest laugh!! Every time we arrive we are amazed at how fast his tiny legs can carry him as he runs to be held in our arms!
