Walking, kicking Kassim

Kassim is a boy in Banda slum who is currently on our Nutrition Programme. He was born 3 months premature and his father died in a car accident when we was just 3 months old. For a short time, he lived with his mother and several others in a small shelter of papyrus reeds. During the day, this papyrus shelter would be converted into a social bar and was where Kasim’s mama would earn her income. Although she was working, his mama was not able to earn enough to provide for Kassim’s and her own basic needs – she was desperate. The Nutrition Team made an assessment and concluded that he was severely malnourished for a one year old child. In fact, his situation was so severe that he was sent to an NGO in Jinja called ‘Serving His Children’ for intensive rehabilitation and nutritional care.

After being discharged he was added to our own Nutrition Programme with regular, highly nutritious food given to his mama to prepare for him. Since then he has turned from a weak and very sick child, into into a thriving, loving, and energetic boy. He has gained 2.1 kilograms (4.6 pounds) since being helped by Revelation Life – he now weighs 6 kilograms (13.2 pounds)! Because of supporters like you, Kassim has been able to grow and is meeting all his developmental milestones. He loves to show off his walking skills, and football kicking strength when the team carry out their weekly visits!

Kassim is currently under the care of a community member, Nalugo, because his mother is incarcerated – Nalugo has assumed the role of Kassim’s grandmother. The Lord has given this special woman such a love and devotion in caring for Kassim and he is in very safe and loving hands until he is able to see his mama again.

She is actively living out the verse:

For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me…Truly, I say to you as you did it to one of the least of these my brothers, you did it to me.” Matt 25:35-36, 40b
